Anyone else having trouble fishing through the recent grass growth on Harbor Island? Every cast I’m having to clear lots of grass. What’s the best technique to avoid it? I’m using single hooks.

ive always cast over the grass and reeled slowly (which is my typical retrieve) and as soon as i feel grass i lift my rod and reel faster...there comes a point where you get an idea of where youre at in the water and where the grass is...now i havnt fished harbor for awhile so i am not sure of how the grass is right now..

    Thanks for the tips!

Mostly referring to the floating grass. Any one notice it, more than usual?

No, dare not throw trebles. Throwing ball jig head and drop shot.

Maybe I’ll Texas rig weed less next time.

Ummmmmm...you want there to be grass, if there is not grass then I normally only catch rays and the like, not bass.

yes a TON of grass right now at HI. just have to fish alittle bit higher with your drop shot, and alittle faster with your ball head.

Fish the surface for other fish.

Jk, weedless rigs are your best bet at the least amount of grass on the retrieve. Not 100% cure, but way better.
