Cant seem to find the spotties in SDB or MB... So I tried to play with the little jetty fish... Was super slow... Didnt go to far down.. Got 1 mini opal. A pumpkin I wish was an opal because he was heavy and fat. And a large smelt? (I think)

Side note... Any one have thoughts or experience on the penn fierce 3? I have like $40 free at dicks and thinking of letting my wife get me this with the okuma celilo shes getting me for Xmas.

Pics sun looked like it was coming out but never did.. No filters

Medium size jack smelt I believe, great bait live or frozen. They get even bigger. That is an absolutely gorgeous photo! Thanks for the report.

No idea how the new penn fierce rates. I do know that I like the shimano sienna fg and it's at dicks in sports arena. The daiwa bg and fuego are also very nice. Don't think dicks carries them in store. My local store is basically a sports clothing store. Carries zero fishing or hunting gear.

Went there a few months back. They really downsized the fishing section after the guns went away. Before that they actually had a good choice on terminal gear. Now it's just a little section tucked all the way in the back by the bathrooms. Some Wal-Mart stores have a bigger fishing selection.

I have both the Sienna and Fierce (no number, so I guess it's the first in the series?) spinning reels. The Fierce III appears to be built on the same body as the earlier versions like mine.

Like 'em both. The Siennas are a tad lighter in comparable sizes, and only cost about half as much.
    .
And, unlike some spinning models, both of these are available in a 2000 size, which would pair nicely with a Celilo rod up to 7 feet.
The 7' 6" and 8 foot Celilo might work better with a 2500 size reel.

I use the Siennas in freshwater and the Fierce in salt. I've had one too many Shimano reels that were supposedly okay for saltwater use...not be okay. Maybe the Siennas are better...

(I can hear the Shimano fans clutching their pearls... "How dare he???")

Whereas my original Penn Sargus (a Fierce with some extra bearings) is still going strong after nearly 20 years. And my Fierce reels don't have nearly as many miles on 'em, but working like new.

After spottie fishing. My sienna gets sprayed by the hose or water bottle and rides in the back of the truck.
