630am Saturday morning. Tube is laying on the pavement at the back of my truck just like normal. I pump up the seat and backrest first (like always), then I go to work on the tube chambers. Both sides are near tight with a 1/4" thumb pressure give (as per manufacturer recommendation). I lean the thing upright against my truck and finish getting my other gear on.

Fly rod and sonar in one hand, grabbing the tube with the other and I feel the left side air chamber down about 25% at least. I almost dumped in my drawers. Put everything down and checked the obvious things. No holes, no hissing sounds, all connections tight. WTF?

Put more air in and tried it again. Seemed fine once on the water. I must have checked that chamber every five minutes though. Again, everything was tight. I'm at a complete loss as to why that happened. Good news is that it held air while I was out, but... Thoughts on why this may have happened? Weather was nice, not cold at all. Tube was resting on a dedicated piece of carpeting in the bed of my truck on the way down.

I know zip about tubes, but maybe the valve got stuck when adding air. After removing the fill device the valve didn't reset and it leaked a little. Just a thought.

Thank you, boys. Ya, I'm still lost with this one. But both possibilities seem ... well... possible. So wicked though that it went down after I filled it the first time, but not the second. I did nothing different.

Probably something tiny got caught in the check valve then when you blew it back up again, It pushed through

Yep, I'm with camobass. My money is on the valve.

The worst is when a bass throws a rat right at your tube at night and the treble is buried n your tube bladder and you are desperately trying to find a spot in the tullies to kick out as you are sinking.

Yeah, Saturday was gnarly. I had a first time tuber and first time barreter with me, made it more difficult but man, been fishing Barrett my whole life and first time skunked. We had to leave early too. No bueno. Had them blowing up in front of me at pigs, threw everything including live shad I scooped up for nothing.

I hear ya. We didn't see many bass crashing on the shad but I sure caught a lot of shad.

Temperature can and will cause difference in pressure but not usually anything significant nor immediate (Gay-Lusacs Law). My bet is the inflation valve.

I think you think you had it pumped up right and maybe the coffee didn't kick in on time. Once the coffee took affect you where in good shape.

Here is the problem I see with your theory. Creek said the left chamber was down 25%. Temperature would have caused all the chambers to be mushy.

It is a theory as to what specifically happened to Creek's tube. That's all I'm sayin'. We have all had our tubes pressure change due to temperature.

Over the course of the day you will need to let air out as the temperature rises but you will not have a 25% pressure change given the volume of a float tube in short order unless the temperatures are extreme.

No.. it was laying flat on the asphalt. I never lean on the boat. I stand while pushing air into it. Both chambers were pretty much identical with 1/4" gives on a soft thumb depress - per Outcast's directions. Everything was tightened as normal.. I'm really anal about checking that kind of stuff - several times over. Its a habit from doing gear checks for my work equipment.

You fill your just like I do mine, I would think you may have had something in the valve or it just didn't seat correctly. It would still be hard for the air to leak out once the valve cover is put back on. This is my second Outcast and I have never had a leak. If it has not repeated then chock it up to **** happens.
