    Hi All,
I want to extend a big thanks to the members who came and helped out at the last event and another thank you for the donations as well. Heroes on the water is a recreation therapy program where we take disabled veterans kayak fishing to escape from their troubles, relax and reintegrate. The more volunteers we get, the more tickets we release for the vets. Sign up and help out! Our next events are
    June 3rd - Tidelands
    June 24th - Mission Bay
    July 8th - Tidelands
    July 29 - Tidelands

I would love to attend, but my kayak is a single seater. I'm also a veteran. Is it open to attend even if you don't have a spare kayak or a tandem model?

We have about thirty kayaks, more if we have enough volunteers and vets to necessitate the second trailer. The vets go in our kayaks by themselves or a tandem with a friend or service animal. Most of the volunteers use personal kayaks but we have put volunteers in ours if they don't own one. The more volunteers we get, the more vets we can serve so sign up or tell a friend. We've had awesome events with up to 30 vets on the water and a great time is had by all.

Awesome thanks Shane. I can't make the 3rd but will sign up for the 24th, 8th, and 29th. I can be a full participant on the 24th and 8th as long as I can borrow a kayak again, and on the 29th I can help unload the trucks and tie up fishing rigs but won't be able to come out on the water as I have a friends wedding i'll have to leave early for. Looking forward to helping out again! -Garrett

I registered for the 8th and 29th, but it doesn't give the option to register for the 24th. Is that just an error or is there a different place to register for that one?

There's separate events for mission bay and tidelands. It gets confusing because the site has a map showing the location so we keep them separate.

Gotcha, is there a separate link to sign up for the Mission Bay one then?

Bump, next event on the 8th, looking forward to seeing some of you guys there! I had a blast last time I volunteered and am signed up for both events this month. I promise you'll have a good time plus will feel great once you see the smiles on the faces of the Vets once they start catching fish!

I signed up to be an on the water mentor for July 8th a week ago. Just wanted to remind anybody interested to go on Eventbrite and sign up ASAP, because the more mentors they have early on the more spaces they can release for Veteran Participation. Thanks to all the SDFish guys that come out.

I sent an inquiry to the organizers regarding volunteering/mentoring for the 8th. Maybe I'll see you guys there.

Cool man see you there. For those that didn't see it in the description, they need both shore and water based volunteers. The shore guys help set up kayaks, tie fishing rigs, and of course the water based guys guide the vets. I did water based last time and loved it but the event on the 8th I'll have my young daughter with me cause my wife works so will be helping from shore.

..... The best thing is to go on the web site Eventbrite search for the Heroes on the Water July 8th event, on the register area it will have the different categories for on shore, on water mentors, participants and a question as to if this is your first time so they can see how many of each to best organize how to utilize the mentors and to know how many Veteran Participator they can invite. Thanks for volunteering.

Another great event put on by monstahfish and his team. My wife ended up having to work so I was shore ridden this time with my daughter, but I still had a great time helping set up all the fishing rods for the guests etc. Beautiful weather and great company as always, and was great seeing some fellow SD Fish members Yeltneb and FISH out there too. Looking forward to the next event. I highly recommend it.
