I've been saying for years that California is gonna run out of water, and sure as crap(can't say what I want) they are doing just that. We even passed a bill back in 2014 to build more dams and still nothing new to help support the building of these new dams. Federal Gov. just agreed to give 2.2 Billion to build a dam in No. Cal. Yet we still have billions of dollars sitting doing nothing. Why not invest more in California's future? One reason why is politics and the others are activist that don't want to see California expand. One other thing this would help is wildfire suppression by having more access to water in the Mountains and foothills of Northern California. Not too hard to get on board with this, but as usual it will drag on for years...

Plans For Large New Northern California Reservoir On Track For $2.2B Federal Loan

Biggest problem here is Earthquakes and what many lakes can handle if a major Earthquake hit.

People need to start raising hell. No taxpayer money unless the lakes are opened seven days a week, we get a good fisheries biologist from the city, and another person like Jim Brown.

Well if they fix the dam they will be able to hold more h2o if all works out. You may even start to see water fill up past interstate 15. I think Hodges is at its best when the water fills up that far.It has been along while from when it was that full...A new dam would probably fill it up to much leaving much of the stored water out in the shallow flats making it susceptible to evaporation unless they put it farther up stream of course.

More water in Hodges would be a good thing for fishing me thinks.

Sorry, nope again. Hodges was declared by The State Safety of Dams to be unsafe past 20 feet of full pool. So the county is not allowed to carry more than that in Hodges. In fact it also hurts the birds that mate on the lake. Only chance of that happening is if they build a new dam, which I say we all have a better chance of winning the lottery than that happening!!

Lake Hodges water levels dry up prospects for grebes

Saw a post on Instagram 2 days ago from Lake Hodge Marina and Rentals saying they were still open and to stay tuned for updates. Stopped by the lake today and there was a giant CLOSED sign there and signs about the dam repairs. I know they are not open Thursdays but trying to find out if they will be open this weekend. On the county website it says they are slated to begin work May 19, 2022. Any thoughts or info you guys know about?

Imagine that! CA with increasing population and housing but spending money on medical care for non-citizens instead of infrastructure to provide life giving water to the tax paying citizens who do live there…
Another reason why I no longer live there!
Good luck and tight lines folks! (If you can get them into the water)
