Late report. Woke up at about 4:00 AM. in a sweat. Wasn't planning on going fishing but I really didn't want to lay back down in a sweaty hot mess.
After clearing parole with the warden , I was off.
Got to the lake at about 5:30. I started in the narrows after finding a spot of working Egrets along the shore. Strike one. Nada. Went to the dam arm. Found another area of Egrets. Got one on a spinnerbait. Worked it for a while for one more. Both were just around 2 pounds.
Busted a move after 30 minutes. Went to the shadowy side of the Dam arm. Stuck 4 more. All on spinnerbaits. Last one at 7:30.
Moved to the power line area. Caught two more. One on a crank. Smaller fish. Pound and a 1/4 . 13 to 14 inches. Lost my killer spinnerbait.
Fish wrapped me in a log. Couldn't retrieve it. Spent 10 minutes trying to dislodge but finally had to just pull until it broke.
Saddened I tied on another one and caught two more. Again noticeably smaller than the fish in the dam arm.
Off the lake by 10:30. Home by 11:30. Was 102 degrees in the parking lot as I was leaving. All in all a great way to spend the morning but dann hot on the water. No wind

How was the spillway looking? It’s been while which side is the shady side?

Good stuff! Was out there Saturday as well from 6am to 6pm. We got on an early frog bite which lasted for about an hour. Then we ran into a nice school of 2 1/2 to 4 lb chunks all in one spot. The fish we caught were all fat and healthy with each one coughing up tons of shad. I'll be posting a video and report later this week. By the way, do you know if there was a club tourney that day? Seem to be quite a few boats zippin around and then they all disappeared early afternoon.

It was crowded. Just weekend fishers though. No tournaments. Saw a skinny *** coyote also.
Kind of weird out having fun fishing when people in the county lost their homes to fire. I pray for them all. Soo sad.
Life is hard to understand sometimes.

Didn't get to the spill way. The shady side in the early am is the southeast side of dam arm.

Probably saw the same coyote. Tiny skinny thing walking the bank. Got him on video too along with the bald eagle flying above.
Know what you mean about being out fun fishing while these fires are going around the county. Prayers for sure.

The bald eagle is also famous. Loves the dead tree next to the launch ramp
