Just got transferred here to San Diego from the Midwest. Did a lot of deer hunting in Wisconsin. Would like to know if there are areas that have wild hogs for day hunts. Any help would be great. TIA!

If you are talking about San Diego County, the only hogs here are the ones that were planted several years back by one of the Indian Reservations. Big mistake in my opinion. Last I heard they were multiplying and living in the very rough and remote areas of the watershed that becomes the SD River. The Indians hoped to charge people to hunt them. At least that is what I heard. Not sure if a program to hunt them actually exists.

The pigs were hunted out by gov hunters, there a a few left but very few. If you want to hunt hogs you have to go up state past los angles, there are a lot of guides that sell hunts but it's not cheep. Check the internet

Ya, honestly, this was way back in 1998. So ya, it was cheap, but I think it was cheap because-

It was all DFW and all public land. Counted/Scored/Recorded all the technical stuff.

Yes, you had to research it a bit and do some paperwork, but eventually, for a very low cost... I can't imagine it being more than $30-$40 back then. Since its probably still public land DFW, i can't imagine the cost being inflated too much since then.... maybe a little...

Tejon Ranch is North of LA on 5 before Bakersfield.

    It's very pricey.

I hunted that place back about 10 years ago. Back then it more like 250 bucks to hunt..... If you want to call it hunting. It was more like hike until you pick out one of the many stocked pigs and shoot it. When the ranch hands hear a shot they jump on their atv and come drag it back to the processing area and dress it out for another 50 bucks. Ok I guess if you want to put some meat in the freezer but there is no way I would pay 500 bucks to do that again.

I agree, I would never pay more than my tag to hunt something. I am used to the Midwest where hunting was everywhere.
