Took a couple of days off and drove up to the Delta. The first day was very slow, as I refused to give up on topwater action. I got a little bit with dinks hitting the popper, but until I went to the jerk bait things just didn’t come together. I was pre-fishing for the next day, yesterday, when I would take a good friend of mine, my Davis protégé, Dr John, out to try his luck. He’s been skunked the last two or three times with me, but yesterday he ended up with getting 14, mostly dinks but still they're fish. He was ecstatic, To say the least A few stripers thrown in here and there. I ended up with 30. Potato slough, off the 12 near Lodi. Launched out of Tower Park Marina. Love me some Delta. Highwinds never showed up, just bluebird skies and lots of geese flying in. Thank you Lord!

ps. Had to stop at Harris Ranch on the way up, the best beef this side of the Mississip.

Town pump is still pretty good after the decades... And that beef they get to pick through is some of the best on earth, IMO.. I was told they only accept one percent of whatever is available... Imperial county has one hell of a lot of beef growing out there

HarrisRanch.jpg PPS Water was 57 at 7 am, and 59.9 by 5 pm. Thus the lack of top. Even the hour after sunset, when I fish till it's too dark to see (another reason why I love it so much, can't do that down here) which normally nets me an eight pounder or two on my Punker or Plopper, didn't pan out for me.

Came back a day early, gunna get back on top down here, water still 72, that makes a HUGE difference on their appetite, or at least on where they decide to dine.

Harris Ranch isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience. Some three or four levels of restaurants, (for us poor folk to the rich ones), western art galore, and a 3 star hotel next door. and "The Country Store at Harris Ranch boasts one of the busiest full-service meat counters in the Central Valley. Stocked with perfectly aged, hand-carved premium steaks and roasts, the meat counter is easy to find along the main hallway, steps away from the restaurant. We’ll gladly pack our legendary beef on ice to keep it fresh on your trip."
