Hit Crowley for the 3rd day in a row! You start getting a better feeling for a lake at that point. The first day I smacked it, I got smacked yesterday, and today I got even! I ended up with 14 fish today, most running 18"-21"! I started the day midging, switched over to stripping streamers..both techniques produced today! Weather today was clear, temps 31-72, smoke came in heavy later in the day up in Mammoth! 20211002_141300.jpg 20211002_094512.jpg 20211002_111807.jpg 20211002_113716.jpg 20211002_165451.jpg Screenshot_20211002-182925_Photos.jpg Screenshot_20211002-175657_Photos.jpg 20211002_181909.jpg the stuff that's working! Pretty much changed every day!

So sometimes they hit a basically bare hook?

Your's are the biggest trout I have ever seen in a report!

Those midges come in dozens of colors and patterns, they represent the chironomids that come out of the bottom of the lake, they then turn into the various insects that bug you while your fishing. They change form and color on the way to the surface! They're pretty much just a little thread, wire, and sometimes a bead..almost a bare hook. The game is figuring out what color, for what depth, and what they're feeding on that day..and it can change during the day! Crowley has a healthy fish population with a great growth rate.

Never caught a trout? Catching a trout should be on your bucket list when you put your boat away. Go to Dixon or Poway lake and you will catch trout. Easy peasy.... :). mcfish can be very helpful and so can I if you need advice.

Funny you should say that, I was just thinking to myself, "I need to catch a trout". LOL I've heard Santee Lakes
has trout, too. I'll have to give it a try one of these days. In the between time, I'm heading down to El Cap on Tuesday, the 5th. Haven't been down there since March. Hoping for some early morning topwater bites. Tight lines Vinny!

You are slaying up there! Very nice work!
Nice pic of the flies too.
You better watch out, though. Having that much fun, Gavin might try to find a way to tax it! :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
