I know this is a beginner question, but I thought you guys could help me and my friends out.

My friends and I are fishing ponds for Largemouth, and I can’t seem to get bit in the last few times I have went to the ponds. I know the ponds also have fish but I have no clue WHAT SHOULD I BE THROWING TO CATCH THESE “WINTER” POND BASS? Also what color worms should I be using in murky vs clear water. Another thing I don’t know is what baits work good in ponds when the bass start to spawn.(or if the baits that will work now will work good when they spawn)

Thanks For the help! I’m just getting into freshwater bass fishing.

Pond bass.. my favorite.. Zara puppy if the water is warm . If not.. wacky rigged worms and almost any finesse presentation should do... Live bait as a last resort?

Yeah just learn to tie a drop shot and get a pack of dark colored roboworms, should almost always get bit.

I also like to use zoom super flukes, you can fish them weightless just under the surface and it usually works for me in golf course ponds.

Remember that once they start spawning they stop really eating for food and just try to defend their beds.

In my favorite creeks, sometimes there is no bite on artificials when the water's cold.
Sometimes the ONLY lure that they'll hit is a small inline spinner.
Sometimes the fish won't even eat a nightcrawler unless you put it right in their face...and move it very slowly.

Natural color worms, light line, small hook maybe a small split shot will work for artificial. I’d dig up some worms too

In clear water use natural green pumpkin color worms and in murky water use black and blue, black, June bugs. Try white zoom flukes. Crankbait if it is murky. Try shallow water and deep water. If it is a small pond, make 1-2 casts take a couple steps down the Shoreline. Also try different styles if baits (topwater, middle of water column, bottom.)

If you don't have ScorcherZ for creeks and ponds...all you've got is poison oak.
You ARE wearing a camo hoody, right?

Everyone can sit herte and say throw this bait or that bait but fish change everyday. What worked yesterday might not work the next day. My advice is have a plethora of and arsenal. If one bait isnt working switch baits. Look at your surroundings...structure, water temp, water depth. Are bait fish around? If so what kind? They always say "match the hatch" in other words throw baits that mimic what kind of bait fish are in there. Clear water use light coloroed baits, dar water use dark coloroed baits. Theres any things that factor in and you will learn that as you become a experienced fisherman. Good luck out there!!

By the looks of those bass in the photos, you don't need help. Definitely NOT a beginner.
