From my professional data collection of sea level (by going to LJ shores and watching the web-cam over the years) - I have not noticed a rise in sea level. Yeah there are big tidal swings getting the sea walls wet - but it isn't like the amount of beach is getting smaller and smaller each year. That beach is very flat and I'd think a rise in sea-level would be noticeable. I could be wrong about all this.

One time I thought I was wrong about something, but someone corrected me.

National Geographic did my genome and sent a map of human spread from Africa. Enclosed data sent me said during the last ice age (circa 12,000 yrs ago) there was no water in the English Channel. It was a shallow grassy area across which early man walked to Ireland and southern England.

At the surface, all your sources are strongly influenced by politics and are heavily corrupted by the oligarchy elite still pretending to represent democracy. In reality, they just conform to the unelected and unaccountable Cathedral A brief explanation of the cathedral

Ah, so this again was your assumption getting the best of you plako
Or, are you stating that they will melt fully, I'm confused...

We can agree that it is true that glaciers and caps are melting, yes?
We can also agree that it is heat which is causing the melt to occur, yes?

The push to address “global warming” is just a brilliant way to make money off of something that is NATURALLY OCCURRING and to make it political is just a way to one up the brilliance. People are getting rich... I mean wealthy off of global warming and trying to save the earth.
    Just like selling bottle water.

I assume you both know that the ice will fully melt. You guys have been screaming this for years. Yes the ice is below the unusually high levels of 1979. Why did they choose an unusually high year of ice as the standard?

No, with all the hot air from the Lounge the earth is getting lighter. Or maybe they exactly cancel out.

    About the ice cube overflowing?
No, the water in the glass won't overflow, per Archimedes Law.
The glass of water is currently supporting the ice cube's mass and has already displaced volume allowing the ice cube to float.

In my simple mind, this should hold true pertaining to the melting Arctic and Antarctic regions during their melt. It would not hold true to the remaining 1% which is trapped in continental and alpine glaciers, e.g. mountains, Greenland, etc.

Those waters would be additive to the volume of the bodies into which they flow.

From the link I posted earlier (below as well), it shows about 60% of the ocean rise is due to added water and about 40% due to thermal expansion of the ocean.

If an iceberg melts, that doesn't cause the ocean to rise. But if a glacier calves off into the ocean or melts on land and runs into the ocean, that does cause the ocean to rise.

The amount the ocean has risen since 1995 is about 8 cm (about 3"), not enough to be readily noticeable at a local beach. The concern is that the added water rate has been increasing and is expected to increase even more as the rate which glaciers slide into the ocean and melt on land increase due to warming. And it is a cycle that is positive reinforcing in that when the sea ice season is shorter and bare land is exposed, the amount of solar energy absorbed increases since there is less snow and ice to reflect the sun. The positive feedback effect of warming makes it considerably harder to predict (there are lots of factors besides these too).
