in town for work with a friend and we have 1 day to fly fish. We’re staying in San Diego and are open to fresh or saltwater. Any pointers on where to go would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

What general area are you staying? Best bet would be fishing one of our bays if you are on foot.

Mission Bay if you're on foot. SD bay if you can rent a skiff. Check out the stickies on the Salt section on specific locations. Flies and supplies at Strouds or The Fly Stop.

If you're looking more for a unique SD experience, and not hell-bent on catching fish, hit up Blacks Beach. It's closer to LJ, and the view from the top of the gliderport is worth it alone. You'll need a stripping basket, and water might be a bit cold. It's early in the season, but corbina are showing up in LA, so you might get lucky. The hike back isnt easy, and Blacks is a nudist beach so you might see some old man parts.

Ended up taking a gnarly hike down into a steep canyon, after some wild trout. Very successful day landed a bunch of trout, all under 12” but it was an awesome experience.
