And I am cause I'm trying to get in better shape. The back of Loveland is a WFO LMB dink fest on the flies. You can catch as many as you want and you get to watch the school fight over you flies as you strip. You also get to watch bonito style feeding frenzies if you're lucky. There's also bluegill in the mix. I hiked from the parking lot to the bridge and back. Bonus feature, not another soul around(unless you count deer, birds, and butterflies).

It's really nice back there. I walked in from the lake trails and back the same way, Pretty rough. There were three guys on the other side fishing for cats who came in from the road. I saw them catch at least one. Judging from the trails there has been a ton of ninja fishing in that cove. Spring would have been great.

I saw some good sized shad picking food off of rocks and birds were catching good sized shad out deeper.

Everydog, I actually went to that side on Saturday. I saw the cat fishing spots. I only got 1 bass. Mind blowing. (It looks like you should get 50 bass). On Saturday there were about 40 cars in the lot, and on Sunday there was 3. So I'm not the only one disappointed.

The dinks are fun. I might go back next week without any bass gear. Just pack a flyrod and some cold drinks. I lost 2 pounds this week.

Wow, 40 cars , I have never seen that. Did you see lots of people on the shoreline? It actually makes me wonder if some road bike riders staged there, or something else. This has been my main lake since July 2018. Even when it's super easy for clones, it's only sort of crowed around the bottom of the stairs, rarely 12-15 cars at peak easy clone catching.

I was there the first Saturday and this past Friday and there were never more than 5-6 people on the whole lake at once. Typically , except for the die hard regulars , there's only a few others .

Anyway good luck out there, I am going back to deeper structure!

I'm not familiar with that area, but I get wanting to incorporate exercise with fishing. I'm not that big a fan of catching bass, but lately I've been waking myself up predawn to target them in Mission Bay for the exercise. It sure beats just walking the neighborhood.

Thanks to the added exercise this is the best my back has felt in more than a year.

Those are "fun size" bass! Same size as the pond I fished yesterday. The hike is shorter but it felt like 150 degrees. Bluegill too.
