47B3FAA0-F3EB-4ACC-B6AD-1A896D457EC7.jpeg Mid-morning I had a free moment and decided to check on the health of our local tilapia. I went to a wetland off the Alamo River east of Brawley. I was only there a few minutes and caught a few of these. They are doing well.....

What's a good bait/lure/fly for tilapia? There's one in my local pond who's ignored everything I've thrown at it.

Nope. Next time when I have an ice chest and have time to catch more.

I used a piece of a nightcrawler on a #4 circle hook but I’ve had them hit crappie jigs, small spinnerbaits, etc. Helps to chum a little bit to get them in the mood.

Back in the olden days when we fished in the Salton Sea, we would anchor up and chum with frozen corn or peas. We would bait with pieces of night crawler and catch some big ones.
