There is a well argued answer by one of Wikipedia creators in Wikipedia Is More One-Sided Than Ever – Larry Sanger Blog Judge it by yourself...
Not really news for me. I have made my judgement years ago after unjustified removal without any discussion of my comments su0ported by critical references from world renowned economists. Just as would any government-approved information outlet do once upon a time in the Evil Empire behind the Iron Curtain. Have not donated them a dollar since then and always treat it with the same suspicion as any of the MSM media sources (including WaPo I'm afraid;))

What? Since when is herd mentality, groupthink and lying so commonplace? Still, wiki is useful if I need a picture of a rock sole...

So far no one has proposed a better source for looking up everyday facts. You might not think they give equal weight to conservative opinions and they aren't perfect, but what is a better source for everyday facts? The sources you listed in an earlier post were focused on ideology and would not be a place where someone could find statistics or other data.

Sanger himself seems to not know what would be better than Wikipedia either from his temporary involvement in competing sources to Wikpedia. Larry Sanger - Wikipedia . He seems to get disillusioned by every project he gets involved in.

And his comments defending "Stop the Steal" conspiracy show that he is a bit nuts.

Bwahahahaha. "World renowned economists." Since some folks cannot tell the difference between a post by a "world renowned (fill in the blank)," random posts by tweakers, and paid advertisements, I'm amused by the idea that such posts might be removed by wikipedia. Also, since anyone can add to wikipedia entries, there will be a lot of nutball stuff that is posted there, and it's gotta be egregiously (something) in order to get yanked. However, because wikipedia also provides citations for research it can help to see the source of the information and judge their credibility for yourself. That being said...if your stuff is being removed from wikipedia, it's a pretty good indication that your stuff doesn't even have the most tenuous link to reality. It's kinda like if your graffiti is the only tag that's removed from a men's room at Grand Central Station because it's just...too...foul.

Why use Wikipedia when you can go to one of Plako's favorites: American Thinker ?

Or use one of hook's favorites (or at least on of the few links he has posted), Conservapedia.

    Funny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Oiq9zFHHdw

Today, you can learn that dinosaurs were on Noah's ark: Dinosaur - Conservapedia . You won't learn that on Wikipedia.

But mostly (only Plako had the courage otherwise), hook, Creek and others won't say what they use instead of Wikipedia. And they can't refute any link I have posted to Wikipedia. Their objection to Wikipedia is not that it sometimes has errors but that it is usually right and that conflicts with their opinions.

So Wikipedia haters, what sources do you use instead? Still afraid to say?

The Onion has some of the most reliable news I have seen, sadly enough, dmorgan3 ... The Babylon Bee is pretty good too tho it leans a bit differently.. otherwise I try to use as much common sense as I can muster..

The left-wing bias of Wikipedia | Shuichi Tezuka and Linda A. Ashtear | The Critic Magazine

See, this stuff is out there against Wiki just as much as its out there about Right-leaners like Fox or (name any Right rag). So to sit there and profess that Wiki is "all that and a bag of chips" is just nonsense. Even the top-dog at Wiki (supposedly) claims his own information room is jaded.

Again, its this way with every rag and media hook that's out there. So no need to pretend that there's only one, single reliable source because there just aren't any - 100% reliable and otherwise - to pull from. It's all politically based for whatever side of the fence you're on. So Wiki sucks, The Critic sucks, Fox sucks, The Onion sucks and The Guardian sucks. Whatever. No one can be really be trusted when there's an agenda to be had. Just do your best as a human to decipher the code for what it really is and move on.
