Silverstrand with Gabemorales . Got there around 4, slack until the outgoing around 6. Both throwing LC's. Minimal salad, low wind. No action for the first hour/two. Once the tide started going we were spooking fish in the shallows left n right. Some what we think were Halis/and or rays. Decided to switch it up and work a jerkbait my wife got me in Vietnam. 5 min later I pulled up my first and legal surf halibut in about 6 inches of water. Just over 22in, let Gabe have it. Fe 20200922_180026.jpg els good to finally get a legal in the surf!

For the record also, both of us snagged a ray. Shawn with a round, and a baby bat for me. Cherry berry still going strong #Belieber

You know, sexy smelt never really worked for me. Caught a mack on it once and that’s it. Lost it not too long ago... but then again, I’m seeing a pattern to the time of the day and which colors to use. At least in my head that’s how I’m justifying it lol.

Welcome to the club! Nice fish. Now all you will want to do for the foreseeable future is bust out the LC.

Hijacking this thread as SOMEONE is being a binghole and giving me a hard time because I’m drinking a white claw. I’m not ashamed, wouldn’t go out of my way to buy a pack (as I took this from my in laws house), but they ain’t bad. Hali made some great Tacos. Went panko instead of beer batter this time around.

Dasss rite !! Panko is the shidiggitty as far as fish tacos, and fish sticks / chunks.. crispy on the outside, flaky moist meat on the inside ( are we allowed to say “moist”? ). I love me sum Panko !!! Lol. I swear I’m going to try strips of yellowfin with Panko this year.. dip in wasabi / ginger / soy..

Get a tuna block, flour, eggwash, panko. Fry at a high temperature to brown the breading but quick enough that the inside is still raw; slice and serve. Like tataki but fried.

You know, I enjoyed the beer batter on the sculpin a little more, but the crunch with panko was above and beyond what I got from the beer batter. Moist is only naughty if you make it naughty lmao. Maybe the difference in fish? Halibut more firm than the sculpin? Idk. Both were great tbh. I need to get out on a charter and get me some YT meat man lol. I keep telling myself one day, never commit though.

This is awesome.. I’m going to try this next chance I get. I’m not a big fan of the raw stuff myself, I just like the texture of cooked fish.. I do like ceviche cooked in lime and lemon with onion, Serrano’s etc. definitely going to give your recipe a shot with just a tad more cook time so it’s pink inside.. yumm
