I decided to fish santee lakes today to see if the warmer weather has made the fish start to move shallow and it has. On my first cast of the day I thought I had gotten snagged about 7 feet off the shore, but the snag started moving. I swung and the line snapped. Based on the wake it left and how it stopped my bait, I think it had to have been 5-6lbs. I quickly tie on a new chatterbait and a few casts later in a spot nearby I hook into another fish, again close to shore. It ended up weighting 4.6lbs. I fished up to lake 5 and didn't get a bite so I went to lake 3, and at the end of my cast I watched a small bass swipe at my lure and miss it. Hooked another one on lake 3 and it popped off right at the shoreline. I ended up catching 2 more on lake 1 that weren't huge. The water is starting to clear up, and the fish are shallow so hopefully the bite keeps getting better and better.
