Short, slow session with the homie. A few keepers, not much bycatch Long Painfully slow run with Roncador and the kiddo .. started off promising enough, with a few nice catfish landed and a few more lost to breakoffs in a light rain.. figured we could consider the coolers jugged... WRONG... Rain went away and so did the bite. Excessive mud, inaccessibility problems, and strong moonlight (apparently ?) shut the bite off like a light switch. Other than a few carp (one little one kept for bait), not much doing. Found a spot with all the carp you could ask for, not what we wanted. Kept on, and there didn't seem much point other than a juvenile flathead for our efforts, or more carp if we wanted them. stuck to bigger hooks and baits, mostly fresh cut carp on number four hooks. Kept the hookup ratios down, but damn, it was slow. Good quality, damn few fish though.. we could have moved more, been more stealthy, used smaller hooks with shrimp if we wanted more, smaller fish. We didn't.. kept working on it, with nothing on the 7th but a few pest LMB including one better than 12 inches gill hooked. Tossed him back to die, thanks DFG for not letting us harvest the gut hooked vermin less than 13 inches.. anyway.. another day in paradise.. thanks, Roncador for hanging out with me and the kids, for a slow session with a great start.. ah, yes..
