Short: 10-12 channel cats, mostly released dinks. 2 flatheads kept due to problems 3 carp, one kept just in case A micro smallmouth or two while waiting Back went out and wrecked my hopes for a blinder as they were biting late yet again. Well.. slow start to the IV session. Started with some back pain and couple baby smallmouth off the bat on the lipless while I waited for the bait rod to go. A tiny carp, then a 2-3# job I tossed in the cooler in case... Didn't need it, bite was not to be for me. Cats finally got with it about 9:30 or so, and I put a couple on the board, including one smaller channel and a little flathead I had trouble unhooking as my back had really started hurting (just tossed it into the cooler). Harbinger of things to come. Then I hook a nicer channel, tossed back one just a bit too big as well. Caught the meaty yellow cat just after, and my back just said NO after that, I was too sore to try to get back to the water, so just tossed him in the cooler too. Did some exercises and caught one or two more at night, but had a HARD time sleeping because of the pain. Finally passed out next to a reservoir around 4 in the morning. Slept past sunrise and missed the dawn striper bite if there was one, ah well, caught a couple more dink catfish and one tiny carp, called it and drove home feeling like hell. Ah well, ADIP...still got out with the kids for a bit and caught a few, despite my carcass trying to tell me not to bother even before we went. All in all, pretty fun stuff anyway. If you all prefer, lmk and I will move my reports back to the catfish section.
