Went to the IV this passed weekend in search for a monster flathead with no luck but ended up with some fun fighting carp.

Should have chopped one up for catfish bait. Put the head on a string, toss it in the water and toss your lines downstream.

    Turtles eat 'em too.

Freaking weather looks like rain this upcoming fishing window. :(

Yep, that's what my phone app says. I know we need the rain, but my back yard is barely dry from the last storm system. Not much we can do about it, I guess.

Nice looking carp. I hear some people find them quite appetitizing then others can't imagine eating them.

Turtles have small mouths and give you little runs and drive you nuts. I use larger hooks than coach but if I suspect turtles will drop to #6

I've heard of turtle soup, but never tried it myself. What is it like? Clam chowder?

Fresh carp is a great back up bait for flats . I caught quite a few flats on chunk carp fishing drops.

In the imperial valley this fish are getting ready to spawn, i caught one nice one on satuday on a rattle trap shallow 2 ft of water it was alot of fun.
The flows are very slow rite now, its a good place to spend a dsy or two.
