Normally I just post in the catfish section to avoid the haterade aspect of things, but hey, this is only a little bit of a catfish report.. headed to the IV with my 10 year old, she had a great time. Started out with the usual suspects and results. Quite a few one lb class catfish, one skinny, weak carp up in the northwest corner Fri night.. decided I WOULD NOT do my usual and retreat to the southwest crying Mama... glad I didn't. Hung out in Mogambo 's hood from late Fri night to Saturday mid day or so, hung three good ones in the off and on rain, one from a spot so tiny, I am certain 99.9% of fishermen wouldn't bother (pictured). Biggest keeper of the day. Caught another a bit south a bit smaller, threw back one too big at a junction to the east, kept one 1.25# that wasn't hooked right. Plenty of one lb minus jobs almost everywhere, all returned (16 oz cats in Feb are the 24 oz cats in October)... one carp in the middle around 4-5 lb (retained as a bleeder) and one more at the end, returned to the water, maybe a bit bigger, but no more than a ten. Driving around we picked off a couple more 1 lb class cats when we saw a geothermal plant with a small pond bordering the gravel next to a road, zero signage other than marking some kind of back road access gate. Peeking through the weeds, I see a black fish with a white chin.. tilapia.. looked like they were on the beds full time, whole bottom of the pond was covered with nests. Pulled in the first one and it was gator headed, ut oh.. overpopulated.. so we kept some of the mid size ones for the pan, throwing back the smallest and largest. Every time I am out that way, I will harvest some until they start to look fat again (assuming I can find the place), then maybe every other trip or something? Pond is tiny, 50' on a side or so... Will see what I can do.. they preferred hot dog buns to shrimp or corn for us today, we did try all three FWIW... ended up with three catfish, one carp, and eight nice tilapia retained , out of maybe a 25 or so fish day for me, a six or seven fish day for the kiddo. Biggest cat went 21" I kept, biggest tilapia went just over 12”. Will post in the fly and carp sections later, I have time sensitive info... Btw, think bass stunting isn't a thing? I gave up trying to use shrimp for the tilapia because these bass kept eating it.. yep, look at em... Slow day, still had plenty to keep us occupied...

Hey...You were in my neck of the woods. Great bunch of fish. Especially the bugle lips. And, great report. It’s warming up and should be in the mid 80’s this coming week on the days the wind doesn’t blow.

Vito1023 , they definitely wanted the bread yesterday,

Troy , wind was downright ugly. If I had to guess, I would say wind gusts yesterday reached at least 30 mph... Unfishable at times.. lol

    Who knew? Lol..

Mogambo , yep, was pretty close to your end of things yesterday, I think. Checked out a place I want to soak a live goldfish right off your namesake road.. looks like it could be a good spot.. haven't done so in a LONG time though..

If only more anglers understood good fisheries mgmt requires adequate selective harvest. Good work. Keen it up!

I call it “Running the Trapline”. Works with veggies too. Broccoli, cauliflower, cilantro, lettuce, spinach, carrots being harvested now. Sweet onions and sweet corn not too far off.

Wait.... you mean the blue ones with numbers on their wings? They come over my house every morning at 8:06 am exactly and 12:06 pm as they practice to go on tour.
