Sent a last minute text to Roncador since I was finally feeling good enough to go drive around, he got his act together and got to my house with minutes to spare. Up the hill, get my kid and head out to the IV in record time. We started fishing a northeast corner canal for a few smaller cats in a wind that felt like it capped out at around 25 mph .. only got more interesting from there. Hit a reservoir and the wind increased even more, at least 35. Flylining a bait was getting challenging, so I tied on a black spinnerbait with a big colorado blade. Saw RBATom got some stripers in similar conditions a couple days earlier, so there was some hope for me. Hooked a little tiny striper, and one bass not too big, then a decent striper that met some concrete on the way to my hand, so I kept that one. Good ole boy caught an lmb that bounced pretty hard in the wind, we kept that one too. Kiddo lost a couple solid hits on shrimp in the ruthless wind and we called it, moving south and then east. Night came on I caught an AWESOME Yuma type California kingsnake, with lackluster fishing and missed/botched opportunities in the still ugly wind, we pressed on to find a fantastic bite between 11 and 1 in the morning with just enough wind it wasn't a problem. Put the hammer to an excellent grade of catfish, jugged one cooler and called it a night. Resupplied and got in position for a reasonable exit plan, getting up in the morning and heading west and south, fishing as we went. Got into another great bite in my old stomping grounds on the way home, finishing off our limits and cooler capacity with a beautiful 5-7# flathead hooked in the stomach and a couple more keepers hooked bad, with even an odd ball bluegill in the mix. Left the valley this afternoon with twenty catfish between the three of us, some small ones we gut hooked in the mix as usual, but overall very pleased with the grade on this run.

Heck yea brother!!! Glad the trip was a success. When I seen those winds pick up, i felt sorry for you. It wasn’t nearly as bad as when I went out. My lips are suffering so bad being chapped haha. I knew you’d have a good day today since the winds settled down, only because I was working haha. Man brother one day we will meet up!!! Great report as always, and those valley sunsets and sunrises are always beautiful!!! As always stay safe and tight lines!!

The catfish meat out there looks like chicken...

Wind machine was definitely hard at work Fri evening.we ended with around 50 fish total. Pretty decent day in the valley..
The kings out there are rare indeed. Beautiful creatures.

Man Coach, I'm just about ready to beg in on one your IV runs. Counts & grade of fish look to be on a steady rise. Good stuff there!

There were two tanks lost last minute too.. Heartbreakers... The one, just a rookie move, the other, pulled hook... You let me know when you are available and ready. Break out the spinning gear and let's do it... Would love that

It's very strange, fish and play in a place for 35 years and you start to get it dialed.. lmao
