Went out to Lake Jennings today and rented a boat for a half of a day. The weather was beautiful and I expected to see many Bass spawning. Really not the case today, kinda struggled to find beds with fish on them. So I changed my tactics, threw some swimbaits, lipless cranks and topwater. Got my first bite mid day in shallow water on the topwater! Unfortunately the Bass spit the bait halfway to the boat. Looked like a 3-4 lber. More towards the end of the day ended up getting a two pounder on a lizard. Had to piss him off for about 10 min before he bit. I saw a lot of baby bass swimming around, almost thinking I may have missed the spawn at Jennings? Anyways. Had fun and expect to fish a lot this week.

Any bass caught from the clear waters of Jennings is a good catch. Had some great days there decades ago, especially when the top water used to be going off. I would push the buoy line with my boat and catch lots of bass between there and the dam on Sammys, Zara Spooks and of course spoons. But then there were tough days where catching even a couple bass was rewarding.
Thanks for the report.....tight lines to ya
