Trout are a lot smaller this year, it was difficult to locate the school, picking through the occasional fish but once we found them it was on. Seems the smaller ones are a lot less beat up than the larger ones which is cool 6F585B63-CFF6-434F-804F-86C6E4D0D502.png

Very nice! Went from 7-1230 today by shore. First time there. Seemed completely dead from the shore left and right of the boat dock. Fishing pier dead...and I didn't see anyone bring anything back off the boats. The water felt pretty warm early morning so I guess they've gone deep. Kids bummed but at least we tried.

Only ones that seem to be biting are the DFG trout.

I went Sat. 8-11 am. Tough fishing, found the school but had a tough time getting them to bite. Got 2 small ones but that was about it. Good job on the limit.

Those smaller trout will be key for feeding bass

The bass seem way more active this year, the last couple days I’ve seen them smash trout onto the banks and out of the water. The trout they stocked are all about the size of a hudd or deps btw.

Pink Power worm on a 1/32 or even 1/8 jig has been doing it for me. 2# test

Keep moving around and remember to bring your polarized glasses. They school up in the coves where there is plenty of shade and cover. You really have to work for them this year. I cleaned a couple with chartreuse power bait in their stomachs.

Santee has never produced trout for me. More often then not a rouge catfish grabs my jig. In my family, it is known as Scamtee Fakes. What do you do that works there?

I went out Sunday and same thing. All we saw were the DFG trout. Water temp 70 is probably the reason. I am guessing the bigger ones went deep for now.

Yea I saw that post it was a good one! But spending $12 to fish concrete waste water pools just isn’t appealing to me. Even tho Lake Jennings has stocked trout it’s a lot more enjoyable walking through trees and bushes trying to find that spot where no one else can/wants to get to. Although if someone wants to buy me a permit I’ll fish Santee lol
