Guys, this is the year of Fish and Game. Be warned here and now. In all my years of fishing San Diego I have never seen them like I have. Its every week they out on patrol, every week. I have seen them no less than 7 times since Jan!! Been checked three times! I had not been checked but once in the last 5 years.

Personally I thinks a great thing they are out there. They are just doing what our tax dollars and fishing lic fees pays them for, so its all good.

I think they are out to gain as much as they can so when its their turn for cuts they look at the total and then cut from that point. If they can raise up their revenue 20% it wont feel like a huge hit when they cut it 20%. There is no other reason than that...really, did they all of a sudden just start to care? No! Hahaha.

I also think its terrible to get a $500.00 ticket minimum for no lic by thinking, ahh...they dont check at this lake... this is not the year to be doj g that.

The fine, Its goes big time if you have fish!! Its considered pouching! If you are at the river in an area where you are not allowed to fish and you are keeping anything... not only do they get you for no lic, its treaspassing and pouching if you are keeping fish. It can be $1,500 fine!!

Be smart guys, spend the $47.50 and make sure you are legal. Make sure if you are a boater you have at least the minimum requiremets. Life vest for all on board and a fire extinguisher. Make sure your boat is registered.

You heard it here......dont make the mistake!

All three times they have been fine. One was really funny, they were right next to my boat and one guy used his binoculars to see my lic! Hahaha

As mentioned, these past few times they were chill. i have been fully treated like a crimminal before. All I can say is dont give them even one reason to make your life difficult. They are gun carring patrol officers who can make your life hell even if for a short period.

What a buzzkill... Is pinning it to your hat or anything like that good enough for them to leave you alone?

My son said the same thing!! They try to fool you out there too. They ware tee shirts with a very small badge sewed in the same color as the shirt they ware. They even had fishing rods in their boat when they checked us way back about 5 years ago out there.

If you're legal then no worries, just remember to put your fishing license and permit in the same spot or else you will end up in Kellen's post about losing stuff.

The bummer about Barrett & Barb-less hooks is that Gamagatsu is no longer making the EWG barbless. I've looked and can't find any other manufacture that makes Barbless EWG or Trebbles. If anyone knows where to get them please post a link. I know I can crimp and file barbs, just a pain to do it.

Funny that you posted this, I was just at the court house last Thursday and couldn't believe the amount of no License tickets people had gotten. A couple others had well over $1000 bucks in fishing related fines.

I fish a few times a week, either at harbor, or beach, or off the docks...mostly...and I havent been checked once this year. I see people taking illegal fish everytime I fish at the oceanside pier...never ticketed. Then again the cops don't enforce the laws in Oceanside. Although, I did fish Dixon Lake 2 weeks ago and no one checked me or my girl....wasted 14 bucks. Then again...half the illegal's that fish there don't have California I.d's let alone fishing permits.

I don't know...don't really see to many paisas fishing...but since you checked them all for papers and fishing permits I'll take your word for it...as for me...I stay legit..if you can't afford a license or don't wanna waste your 14 bucks...stay on the piers...it's legal and from what I hear the fishing is awesome..
