With possible 100 degree weather on Sunday in Ramona, I decided to hit the lake of Kiefer and Donald today.
Headed across the lake and before I could reach one of the lake's well known local and very skilled bass fisherman, a bass slammed my spinnerbait and the skunk was off quickly. Geez...On Wednesday I was honored with the presence of mcfish fishing at Murray and now right before my eyes here was fisheromen working the shoreline of his home lake. We chatted for a bit and I watched fisheromen pull in fish as he headed down the bank. I caught a couple more in that area on plastic worms and on an underspin. I took off to Santa Ysabel arm and picked up a few more bass and later ran into fisheromen again and chatted about our progress while working an area together. I then caught a bass and boy does fisheromen have great eyesight as he said that he caught the same bass I caught a little earlier. I cannot argue with a guy who knows his home lake and obviously the bass in the lake so well....ha ha. I stayed for about an hour more after fisheromen left and went to work a point and a rocky area. I told Paul earlier that I should throw a jig, but never really did. I wormed the area with no bites. I finally put a jig on and worked it along the rocks. Then in about 15' of water something tapped it and I set the hook and the fight was on. It was a nice bass and it fought like it was on steroids. I could just feel it breaking my line any second with all the shallow rocks around, but I worked the bass around them the best I could and finally somehow got it into the kayak. The bass weighed 6lbs on the button! I ended up catching 9 bass and what a good way to end my fishing day. It was fun seeing and chatting(not as much as I did with mcfish) with Paul today and of course landing some bass too. Geez...if on my next trip if I see Linebig, it will be like I hit a trifecta!!! Ha ha. :)

Sounds like the fish have made their way back to the bank. Way more fun in the brush!

It was 12:02 when I caught the bass on the jig and left a short time after that. I tried over near the dock for bass #10...but no luck. :)

Thanks....it was hot pretty early and the bass up there fight harder than any lake I have fished in San Diego. a 3lb bass fights like a 6 lb'er. I was using mag heavy and extra heavy Dobyn's rods and those bass had them bent like a Phenix light action rod...ha ha. Are you and you son hitting Diamond Valley this weekend?
    Tight lines to you.

I was banking on that. Yes the bass were in tight again. When I took your advice to fish deeper...not even a nibble.
    I thought we were buddies?

Yeah....it was not so crowded as last Friday...but I can only imagine the lake on a weekend. Not for me for a while.
Good luck at El Cap! :)

Hard to catch fish when you are fishing behind VinnyBass ! JK, actually he was fishing my used water most of the time! I left the big ones for him! ;) I caught a few. 004.JPG 005.JPG

Forgot to mention, I neglected to put my hook box in my tube. VinnyBass was generous to hand me a half-dozen EWG's. Thanks, Man!

I am pretty sure you caught more bass than me...but kept it low key to not excite too many
and create a crowd up there on Fridays.
Regarding the hooks....no problem at all! I know that if you asked mcfish, he would have just give you directions to the nearest tackle shop....ha ha

Who needs a tackle shop when you have Tackle Warehouse right on the water!

weather says Hemet 104!! so no. we went looking for someplace cooler, and that was Otay today. We had fun being back on that lake. We had a good time, caught 6 but no kickers all 2 lb clones. No complaints.

Yeah 104° is not fun weather to fish in. Glad you got out on the water and caught some bass down at Otay. Hopefully the weather will calm down a little but it is summer and somehow us fisher-me will always find a way to get out to the lake to fish in rain, shine, cold or hot weather.
