Did a little bass fishing this morning. Got off to a slow start as the water level rose from my last visit here and had to explore a little. Finally I was able to coax some bass into hitting a cool bait underpin, a flashy swimmer under spin, a spinnerbait, a pumpkin senko and a black worm. I was able to land 7 bass this morning with my two largest bass weighing 4 3/4lbs and a 4 1/4lb'er. Another bass was a little over 3lbs and the rest were in that 2-2.5lb clone size. Broke off a nice bass in the sticks and missed some other opportunities.....but overall had a fun morning bass fishing the day before Independence Day.
Anyway...Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July! :)

Didn't manage to get out there today. Sounds like a good way to start your weekend though.

Yeah it was pretty fun and there was a lot of people surprisingly. Felt bad for at least three guys I saw who brought boats and had to go home because no boats on Fridays.
Anyway I know you’re going to get up there soo and catch some bass. Till then...I hope you have a nice Fourth of July! :)

On the way home from the lake I caught a quick glimpse at your lake(San V).......and there were lots of boats on
the water. Hopefully things will calm down there a little and look forward to some nice reports soon from you and you son.
    Tight lines. :)

Yeah, I made that mistake a few years back. I zoomed up there after work got shut down because the water was shut off for repairs, and was unpleasantly surprised. The boat had to sit in the parking lot and I had to walk the shoreline. Didn't have a very good day.

Yep. One of many reasons we have moved on to lakes with better fish management (San Diego county has none,in my opinion). Here’s a fish from DVL today, caught on a robo in 30’ of water on 6 lb flouro. Tight lines my friend!

Actually as I think about our lakes and how we ended up traveling north instead of south, covid is really what ran us out! Perris and DVO opened up before SD lakes so we went and caught better fish at both. Then when Otay (our favorite) opened with that 50 boat and trailer rule we were just over it.Perris and DVL have been great! for us much better quality of fish.

I guess it was not funny for the guys who came all the way out there. I actually drove to Murray early in the year because I was off on a Tuesday. I could only laugh when I reached the locked gate. Can't blame anyone but myself. :)

I will wear my leaky waders! On hot days I fish from dark to 10 or 11. If the fishing is still good at that time I dunk my hat and my cool scarf.
