Kayak fishing on the Hobie recently, launched down the street at WindanSea. Pretty slow fishing lots of pelagic red crab and anchovies keeping the fish stuffed out there! I released some smaller fish, kept this 3 lb Vermillion and 5 lb Sheephead. Fished 150-170 feet deep about 2.5 miles out.

That's an awesome sesh. Those big ones like the smooth slow wind on the ride topside, or wait a minute they probably dont because then they wind up on deck. Great video, looks like a lot of fun. Tight lines.

FWIW, special circumstances, using a 9/0 hook and live mackerel, never had much luck with a straight winding on the lings and their mouths of cement - it seems to be a crapshoot regardless of technique and going on 15 years of practice on the same rocks. Perhaps "still on the fence" with the hooksets!!

It's an interesting and advanced topic that I have covered in past Fred Hall seminars.
