Most tackle stores sell frozen squid, I assume the Asian markets do too but for squid I usually keep a frozen box or 2 in the garage refrigerator

I saw on the Zion market advertisement, shrimp is 12$/box, 2 kilos I think... Very reasonable

I guess im lucky, i just spoke with one of my oldest friends who is the head butcher at a local market, he was able to put aside a like 5 whole squid and a crap load of shrimp for me. He said they are in the pile to be tossed out due to noone buying them. So I'm getting them for nothing. I guess the only thing is he said they are not going bad yet, but old enough that i would not want to eat them, but should be great bait. Thats ok, i hate squid and shrimp anyways, and its just going in my freezer for bait. Thanks for all the info guys, gonna be trying to catch me some sculpin tonight..
one more question though, i know it was mentioned about getting stung by those fish, i know they are in the scorpion fish family, and toxic. If i get stung by one, would i need to be rushed to the er? Or is it just a painful sting that goes away after a few days? Or do i pee on it like the time i got stung by a stingray? Just wanted to know because I'm an idiot, and often hurt myself unintentionally. So i almost guarantee i will probably be stung at some point unless I'm being SUPER careful(but thats not as fun). Should i ware my gloves?

I typically just use a rag but gloves work too if you have them. It hurts but you shouldnt have to go to dr unless you have an allergic reaction or something. Run the sting under hot water and it will break down the venom similar to stingray. only an hour or two of pain if it just pierces the skin. If a spin breaks off in your hand or hits your bone...thats a different story, definitely ER.

Don't treat wounds by peeing on them lol.

For sculpin, grab em firmly by the lower lip

you don't need gloves. Lip them.....your thumb in the mouth and your first finger under the lower jaw. Hold firmly with the fish facing you and the tail pointing away from you.

Lol the peeing on the sting was some old thing i was taught in the boy scouts as a kid, and have been told countless times by people, even in the military they said that. I know it is not sanitary, nor does it actually help remove toxins. I did do it once as a kid, i was stung by a stingray while playing at the beach. I guess that was a total 80s way of thinking.. lol

Very nice Fish there. I love that they blend with the granite.

Vien dong has had some cheap squid, shrimp, and mackerel last couple times I was there. Easier to get to if you live south of the 8.

I carry around some large channel locks in my fish bag for gripping unruly fish, and for skull whoppin once I got a grip.

According to many of the medical “experts” who years ago called the local 101.5 FM KGB “Dave, Shelley, and Chainsaw Show” (so you know whom to sue), urine works on stingray wounds.

When you keep them, bonkem on the head real good, stab the head, bleed the fish, and give him a haircut making sure you get all the spines out.
Been lucky and extra careful myself whenever I catch them.

Anyone that says anything other than beer battered tacos is crazy haha. Best fish tacos by far
