typical fun size sobay spotties. today's ratfest averaged over 11 inches...with a 13+ inch kicker.

Nice, I was there too and might have seen you in your tube (I was in yellow kayak). I also found the morning bite to be much better than the afternoon. I did a decent amount of exploring and put a few wasted hours into bonefish (I can't find those things for the life of me these days). Seems like the outgoing was absolutely howling and sending dead grass everywhere.

Were you camped out on the #21 channel marker? I figured that guy was ropin' the spotties...or else why did he stay so long?
I was gonna kick over and poach the spot, but every time I headed south, I'd get bit in the channel next to the #19 post.

..and I found a new way to get past the steep, slimy mud that's exposed when the tide goes below the -1 foot mark.
I supported myself with hands on the tube, pushing on the slimy bottom with feet, then knees. Slid the tube up on the nice hardpacked sand then sorta crawled out.
Two spectators (Flounder and ??) were watching this debacle and were kind enough not to laugh. Not loudly, anyway. We swapped some stories, and I was reminded of some other spots I need to try....
    Nice meeting y'all.

Yeah, there were four fishing kayakers in the area at different times, as well as more who just sightseeing.

I forgot I had this pic, taken in the afternoon at low tide (-2.1 ft per Tides4Fishing). This is looking across the bay from the northern part of the Cays. That diamond-shaped sign on the right says "SHOAL." The big flat was high and dry, with egrets (circled) out there pecking at food. From the low angle of the float tube, you can't even see the channel of water on the other side...the whole bay looks empty. Inked220102 sobay shoal exposed 2_LI.jpg
