So I was very fortunate enough to come across this awesome community called SDfish. After not that long in this community I've come across some "profile aquaintences" that have made this forum even brighter. And for the first time today I was able to link up with a good group of guys who just wanted to fish!
Special tanks goes out to member Gordon (Gideon) for getting me in on todays adventure. But enough with that.

Ok got on a boat, 5 total anglers got out of the marina at 7 and smashed it up to La Jolla. Besides the upswell rolling into the SDbay in the channel the conditions were great glassy low rollers all the way up. Arrived on the scien with no other boats or sportsboats in site. It was thought at first but there was life everywere. After a few Mack attacks all around I landed the first bone. And the fishing started there. Surrounded by bait all morning and MOVING schools of bones, we steadily picked them off with a good # of calico's in the mix {* including my PB of the year; suprisingly in November} with a handful of bones and surprisingly two nice rockfish (one vermilion, the other kelp bass of sorts) Plus our fair share of Mack attacks. The 5 of us did pretty well seeing how we were up there for about 2.5 hours before having to hurry back

Obviously threw the macks and good handfuls of cali's back ranging from legal to shorts , kept only one legal cali. (I Actually CnR my PB cali today to be caught and hopefully and make someone else's year/season as it did mine. I'm trying to acquire that PB photo now. If I get it I'll post it. (It will be obvious) But all in all for only 2.5 hours and a beautiful morning on the water we brought back dinner and more we all successfully caught fish and all enjoyed our time out there. The fish are defenetly still there right on the kelp edge. If anyone wants a carefree fun time fishing with a decent outcome it's still just out our front door.

We were only throwing hook up baits & snippers for today's keep.
    (I FORGOT THE MARKET SHRIMP)
Great sunrise to start things out!

A bonito. And it's straight sashimi. (Tuna laying in soysauce) that's onion flakes on top just for a flavor accent. Bonito is a tuna, More so a tuna then a skipjack is. (Skipjack is a mackerel) But in my opinion bonito makes a phenomenal poki and is amazing as sashimi. Fresh off our coast straight to our/your plate. Let's go fishing and get some and I'll show you how to clean and prepare it.

Just saying.. Skippies are a true tuna, bonito are in their own family.. Neither are a mackerel.

Fillet is easier than gut and scale with those. Lose a lot of meat that way, however..

That's the real/traditional way to cook/eat. Others in my house would not want to see a fish on their plate.
