Launched MB (Dana) at 1:15pm. Tried to make Bait, no takers, nothing on meter.

Arrived LJ, small crowd (10 boats and kayakers) and the New Seaforth at 2pm.

Broke the skunk catching Calicos with Flat Falls and ColtSnipers......

Caught a Bonito with ColtSniper, started trolling, caught a Calico on the troll (surprised)....Caught a Yellow on the troll and a Bonie.....Caught a Yellow on a Yo-Yo......

At 4pm decided to head offshore to find some Paddies.....While changing out trolling lures for OffShore motoring at 12-15mph (it was rough) we hit some chop and a treble hook ended our day.....Trip to ER......

    But we caught:
    2 Yellowtail
    2 Bonito
    15 Calico Bass (2 legal)
    From 2pm-4pm
    -No Bait
    (Fish were smaller today)

Yikes that makes the one I got hooked on look good compared to that, how’d you end up getting it out, my finger is still being a little stiff and I did mine around 3 months ago. Did you get a tentnis shot I hope that hook look pretty rusty. What was that doing in your boat anyway?

Lidocaine and antibiotics. Didn't help the throbbing feeling I'm sure, but its the right road to be on. Sorry you got stuck.. barbed treble hooks are not anyone's friend. PS... that's about the right size fish to bend my 7wt in half. Sorry I missed it.

...yeouch! My finger is throbbing in pain just looking at that. Apart from the rather abrupt and painful end to the day, good to see you got on some fish despite the late start and no bait. Hope that finger heals up nice and quick!

I was on the San Diego last week, looked over to see a guy with the surface iron stuck in the back of his head and the captain with bolt cutters. Luckily the guys wasn't much of a bleeder.

It was procedure #2. I performed the whole procedure myself after the doctor shot my finger dead with lidocaine...I had to use Paulito ’s Shimano diikes because the Urgent Care pair sucked.

Gibb’s Rule #200......Always bring your own diikes (diagonal cutters)....I’ve heard too many stories where the hospital or clinic didn’t have any.....

Surprisingly there was little blood. The rust and swelling kept it minimal.

You’re gonna laugh.....I performed both methods on that same hand within 11 days ....Both happened on a choppy day in La Jolla.
