I’ve only been there a couple times. I would try weightless senkos or dropshot robos. I saw it when it was basically drained. Right outside the opening of the cove next to the fishing pier is a big rock pile throw around that. There’s another rock pile about halfway down the “arm” on the south side. That’s the only structure in the pond.

I was using 5 inch watermelon senkos. Got a couple hits or I was hitting weeds. But still nothing I went all around the lake. It’s proba to hot still. You from that area.

WOOPS.....I THOUGHT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT LAKE MIRAMAR.....MY BAD!
HECK...MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY LAKE MIRAMAR....:)

I was there this morning and pulled in 9....nothing real big(will be posting my report under Freshwater reports later this evening). Use pumpkin colored senkos, or Margarita Mutilator Robo worms or any type of just plain old purple worm. Fish deeper....lots of the bass are just outside the weed line(20' plus of water) and some on the inside area where the weeds start.4-12' or so of water.
Dropshots with a very light weigh or free line a senko. Heck that bank from the launch ramp towards the dam is pretty deep water or hit one of those fishing piers. I have been pretty lucky up there in my last 3 trips in my kayak. The key I feel is try to cast to deeper water. Good luck and tight lines to you
Today my biggest went 3 1/2 on a Pumpkin senko in 20' of water

You said you got a couple bites. Maybe they are stunted or just teenie-tiny? Try cutting Senko in half, use smaller hook. Or the ‘ol piece of market shrimp and a smaller hook to get the skunk off and to see what you’re dealing with.....Small hook, with worm?.....

Do they have any cats in there? I used to fish that “pond” when I was a kid when it was NAS Miramar.

I would imagine most of the fish in there are pretty small. They basically drained it earlier in the year and I guess a lot of the bigger ones might have died off.

Crazy I was talking a guy out there saying someone just caught a 12 pounder, 8, and 4 not to long ago before it got really hot. I think I’m wait till it cools off some then hit them back up and see what I get. These are what I was using

Went down there this morning before work. Caught 5 dinks on a Ned rig. Broke off a nice 3-4 lber on a watermelon senko wacky rigged. All came off that rock pile I was talking about.
