Grandson caught this rainbow and a small bass yesterday on a tube lure.
His friend also caught a rainbow and some crappie.

That’s a long, skinny fish with some great looking colors. Well done.

Kinda wished I had fished it a couple weeks ago after they stocked it. Never had the fun of doing that.

That was my grandson, I didn't go.
They went camping up there somewhere.
Now that he has his driver's license he goes all over the place. Even went to IV with his friends.
He's too young to take teenage friends so he just drove by himself as part of the group.

They are still there. Pretty chill. First time out this season, missed 9 got 5 for a few hours. Rusty.... just fishing floating crawlers. Like butt fishing lol, props above on the crappie jig, that’s fun too.

I use to love the drive up to that lake back in the day before the '03 fires swept through there. Still a beautiful lake.

I worked up in that area as a camp counselor more than a decade ago. We would take kids to the docks with bamboo sticks to catch crappie. There was a ton of those fish there. I remember one girl tying her line to her big toe and catching a crappie while dangling her foot over the side of the docks. I haven't been up there in years, but reading this thread it sounds like the crappie population isn't what it use to be.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. There were signs back then that said "no catch and release." Not sure if those signs are still there or not, but I remember seeing people with buckets full of crappie, not because they wanted to keep them but because they were afraid they would get in trouble for releasing them.

If they start stocking lightning trout again I might just have to make a trip up there.
