    Overnight 9/19, fished 9/20.
Incredible bait quality. 3”-5” and strong swimmers. First quick stop of the day didn’t produce, but the second stop is all we needed. We put close to 200 fish on the deck. I landed 7 yft and 3 skipjack before I finished breakfast. I think we were around the 425 for this 3 hour drift. Left the fish biting to look for bft and had one quick stop for 1 skippy I think. Called it quits a little early and were at the dock by 6:30. Good grade of yellowfin, I’d say 20# average and they were biting up to 30# mono. It was nice to see some wide open fishing, I mean bit INSTANTLY several times.

Haha. Not sure I would call 3” sardines incredible bait but it seems like it didn’t matter that day! :)

    Great work!!
Quick question. I have zero experience with YFT, but I have always heard it's best to bleed and ice tuna right away. I notice in the photo that the fish are not on ice. Is this OK?

If I had my way these fish would have been bled and spiked when they hit the deck, then in the rsw 5 minutes later. This was such a hot bite that the crew was busy gaffing fish and fixing tangles so they told us to tag our own fish and leave them there. It became a hazard eventually, could barely step through them plus 4’ swells. They needed to leave them there to get an accurate count before the rsw though.

I would say the term "bloody decks" about covers it.
