Me & my son will soon become first time tubers, so i plan on making a new thread to discuss "must haves on the water" + what else to bring in the car. Especially with the heat.

Are there any other prefab float tube rod racks other than the CastMate? Or is that it?

 

the only other one I know about is the single. It says fly rod but works for casting and spinning.

 

I usually carry two outfits when tubing. The Caddis Rod Holder rotates and is good for carrying an extra rod. I also have a Fishing Buddy holder strapped to the left side (Fish Cat) which I'm able to stick the handle of the rod I'm using in an up and down configuration when retying/changing lures which beats trying to balance the outfit in my lap. Yea many a rod has rolled into the drink using the lap changing method.

 

Theres a guy on ebay that sells a double rod holder with different configurations. I think he is local too.

Just finished up a rod rack for my fat cat 4 deluxe. I built it to hold 5 rods vertically and have an open slot to place a rod when trolling or just to hold while. Technically it can hold 6 rods. I’ll post a final picture of it mounted up after the cement glue is completely cured but here’s an idea of what it looks like. I would be happy to build these for you guys with a small fee if this ends up working nicely. I’ll be testing it Saturday at the B. It will use thick wire ties to hold it to the D rings and then a bungee chord around thebottom to the D rings on the underside or atleastthat’s the plan.

Just wondering if anyone knows if castmate is still around? I think I remember Nute talking about testing there gear?

 

They're out of business, I looked into getting one and thought I found a place that had them but was not in stock after all. I was bummed and thats when I made a trip to home depot and gathered stuff to make one out of the black abs plastic.

 

I reached out to Team Fish Co (CastMate) and they said they're out of business and have no more parts/leftovers. I've also reached out to https://www.floattubefishing.com/ and they said they're out of stock and won't be getting it anymore since it's no longer in production, BUT they're working on releasing their own version similar to the CastMate soon -- date TBA.
