Even though I'd rather it be for SD Fish members only, this can be for anyone as long as one participant is from SD Fish. As long as we do t have a team of nobody's. Makes no sense for us SD Fish heads to fish against a team with nothing to do with the forum. The people from this board are the reason this is even an idea.

@GutHooKeD and I have been meaning to organize this thing for many months. We haven't been able to meet yet alone plan it. Thank you Kevin for stepping up. I'm happy to help if you need it, probably don't have the time to head it up so thanks again. I know your busy too so I really do appreciate your dedication to these events. I could maybe try and get some sponsor swag for prizes? Assuming I'm in town I would be all in.

Couple of my previous thoughts since you say we're talking about it....your tourny, your decision of course:

-rental teams will need to arrive EARLY as they (Dana) will typically sell out on saturdays. I'm sure you'd be fine with seaforth boats too, but I can tell you Dana's are much nicer and have been upgraded with 6 rod holders lately.
-I originally thought the "tournament" would be sunrise until noon where we meet for lunch and awards. Those that paid for the full day rental or have their own skiff could have an afternoon chill session to just fish and hang...maybe some side bets, maybe a shore pound.
-make the call on what if any bait is allowed.
    - 2 or 3 person teams (I know some will want to split a rental 3 ways to make it cheaper. I personally like 2).
    - biggest single spottie, top 3 combined (i like top three combined, maybe have a single biggest spottie "prize").
-halibut division... hadn't thought about it but cool idea. I'd prefer this be an optional side pot but that's just me.
-my original goal was to have the winning team make enough cash back to pay for their skiff rental. Maybe that's $5 from each participant. All dependent on the entries.
-can personal skiffs use fish finders? Can they use their full motor power? Items we were going to discuss.

Again, thanks for heading it up! Your deal completely, just throwing my .02 in for what it's worth, which is simply two old pennies.
    Peace!

    Sounds fun!!

Would imagine it would be impossible to prevent PBers from using their sonar or running at full bore. all that expense must be worth something....

Skiff renters can always bring a portable fish finder..... as for speed, well, you get what you pay for lol

Let's just make sure no livewells are involved. I'd hate to see a bunch of floaters scattered around the bay.

No private boaters have sonar, of course our fish finders are a very basic kind of sonar. But an actual sonar costs around $30000 and takes up a ton of space.

How do we determine the winner(s) without the evidence (the actual fish)?

With the pounders, just a photo on a tape determines the largest fish.. Take a pic and send it to @dj thrillz with a phone with the object you were given at the start of the session..

We would do it the same way we do it in our sessions. Tape measure and photo object. Release.

    @dj thrillz
I also like your idea of a deposit. I assume the deposit would go towards the prize pot and not the rental. If the team chooses to no-show, they lose out but the rest of the participants don't as they can still win their cash.

I'm gonna come up with something. But it may be off the ole record and organized through pm's. Once a few teams are game. I don't wanna start blabbing off dollar amounts in here, but just know that what everyone would pitch in would make it worth it for the winner(s).
As far as the private boats versus skifs go, pb's do normally have a FF and speed advantage. Doesn't mean they have a skill advantage ;)
If you study MB at all from previous sessions from a boat or skiff, then you should know a thing or two about MB's puzzle. If you haven't been on MB's surface, then you should get out there and learn before we get this going. No holds barred lol.
