Way back when we discussed the ridiculous 12 cent per gallon gas tax over 10 yrs (estimated to bring $50 Billion) imposed on all of us. It was supposed to solely, SOLELY go for infrastructure/roads. Here ya go. Skip ahead to about 9 mins 30 sec. Im just stoked that at least ONE politician/person in CA other than me recognizes that this was complete and utter BS.

Same question I asked several times on here.. "Where did the money go because it sure didn't go to infrastructure !"

The discussion about the gas tax begins at 9:30, not that the rest of it is not worthwhile.

McCarthy? I agree. The fine citizens of Bakersfield and the 23rd district deserve better...

Just like our water tax went to build more reservoirs except not 1 dollar has been used to build reservoirs or increase our storage abilities. However it has been used to rewild (destroy water reserves to bring us back to our natural state) rivers. Reducing our water storage abilities. I love the idea of bringing our state back to what it was 100s of years ago however we have a population of over 40 million people. So that is not exactly feasible.

Yeah, one for San Diego, 11 for LA and 10 for SF, D's voters being rewarded by the corrupt politicians in Sacramento.
Meanwhile, the Prop 6 effort was not just to repeal the 12 c tax, but more importantly to audit how the previous gas tax money have been spent so far. This was the major reason why the wicked politicians probably consulted with some sociologists how to formulate the question in the ballot in order to confuse best the voters and to trick them to defeat Prop 6.
There should be a law the formulation on the ballot to be exactly the same as it was on the petition but who would pass it?
California must burn in complete financial bankruptcy before anything changes. I don't see it in my remaining life time, so better go fishing until this is still allowed and relatively affordable.

I count only the last type, the transit projects since to me this appears to ber the largest portion of the total budget and is easiest to count. But for the other types the difference is similar.

To be fair, we live in the unincorporated area in the north county and they have been repairing the side streets and main streets. They have those asphalt grinding machines tearing up the asphalt and have a skip loader removing it. Then they pour the new asphalt.
But I still believe that not all of the gas tax money goes to where it's supposed to go. But that's just like every other government tax.

And you're entitled to your beliefs also.
I'm just not going to believe everything that the government says that I should believe.
Government robs Peter to pay Paul quite frequently, that's why Social Security is in trouble.
If you want to take the word of the government as gospel then more power to you. I for one don't believe everything that I'm told.

12incher, No problem, I too look articles up. We both can find what we want to find.
You can believe what other people write just like I do.
We both can do research to support our beliefs, but can both of us actually say which statments are actually true.
We can believe what we want to believe.
The politicians who support SB1 can spin it anyway they want.
Google has it all laid out from both sides, just choose who you want to belive.
    Nice discussion.

Not in CA.. just good catches on Fox News.

So you know Cam, ny "excuse" as it were - is that my 100 yr old mom is actively dying as I write this. She had an immense ischemic stroke two Saturdays ago. She is now a complete right-side deficit, unable to speak and takes o2 by cannula because she is an active AFib patient. Hospice has taken over her case and she is now on accelerated comfort care.

As much as I would LOVE to go out, fish and write reports, I cant. My mom has always and will always take precedence in my life. I've basically given up fishing, disc golf and doing things with friends (Richard, CaptWoody, Chris, etc) so that I can just work and hang out with mom. Time is precious, and so is my mom.

So for now, I'm going to hang in the lounge and talk about politics because its what I've got time for. And again, if my rants about Democratic BS bothers you or anyone else, then simply do your best to avoid getting caught in its vortex by not reading and replying to it. Once mom is gone, I will get back to fishing and writing reports. Promise.
