Fished the Mission belle today and had a limit myself before 9am. Most on the Yo-Yo Iron. Later in the day I picked up another one on bait, and 2 More On THE SURFACE IRON! SURFACE YELLOWS IN MARCH!! All are a great grade of fish, 15-26 lbs. All 8 of my fish were over 20 lbs. Gave the 3 smaller ones away. Get Out There!! Yo-Yo fishing is as easy as it gets folks, and these are BRUISER yellows. Hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Make Sure your drags are good, and your line is fresh. Saw at least 4 reels get destroyed today, Just blown up. I got all my Yo-Yo fish on a Scrambled egg full size Salas 6x. Some guys were doing good with other big heavy jigs, like a Tady 14. Have a surface rod set up. The yellows were EXPLODING on bait on the downwind corner about 3-5 minutes after the initial slide. I was solely fishing the surface Iron the last 2 hrs. Everyone was getting tangled on the slide and I would just wait..... Boil in the corner! Oh! Theres another one!....... AHHHH! FRESH ONE!! ON THE SURFACE PLUG!! Man I wanna go again tomorrow too! Best bite was in the morning. I hope you get em. Today was one of the best days fishing yellows Ive ever had locally.

Hopefully we'll see a lot more of this... Hoping some exotics will get pushed close too with this El Nino weather.

How long does something like this last? With all the boats going out daily I'd think that school of yellow would be gone in a few days.

These fish are being caught in about a 9 square mile area. No one has looked anywhere else yet. My guess is that there are lots of other spots holding yellows like this. The average skiff does not have the electronics to completely search for yellows, since yellowtail typically wont let you drive over them, so your up and down meter wont pick them up. There was at least a dozen bird schools that we didnt even check out. We also had some bonito on the yo-yo that were not reported....Oh yes wonderful mayhem is at hand. Good luck all...here are some pics http://s911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/datguyjoe/

We lost 2 yellows to a solo dog. He ate his fill and we saw no more all day. Dont know where they went. Hopefully they stay wherever they are.
