Got a session in with cort and Nickheid .. caught a couple decent opaleye, about it, dumped a decent calico or two, shot the bull and had a good time just hanging out. Thanks gents. Fun stuff if nothing too crazy, did alright despite the strange tide we had to work with...

Was an absolute pleasure fishing with ya. Learned a lot and marked a couple species off my surf list. Thanks for the good time!

Likewise! Nice to meet you also, Nick.

For my part I caught a blenny, a smaller opaleye, and a couple little calico. It was a nice evening of fishing. Coach ... true to his fish whisperer ways, spends his first 45 minutes casually chumming the water and doesn't even have a pole in the water, and when he finally drops a line in - pulls out that bigger opaleye in about 15 seconds. LOL.

Edit: It was an opaleye, not a calico. Brain fart!

Nice report and nice catches Werf. Will you just gut, scale and cook whole, or do you fillet those bigger ones.

Depends on my mood. Will fillet if I just don't want to bother with the bones, fry whole if I have time. No matter what, all leftover parts either get fed to my squash, or used for bait and chum, so no waste either way.

Tide was laying funny, but still easy enough. When are we going?

Pretty fun session despite some setbacks and the ever annoying salad.

So... How was the "yellowtail" action this time? Low key thinking of going Sunday. Wasn't very many at mission bay this week lmao.
