It's cool, it is a ton of work to make it happen. Probably more than thirty lb of meat off a 60 some lb fish

“Is it time for the gaff yet?”

Haha, just giving you a hard time. Beautiful shark. Thanks for letting us know how to properly prepare these sharks in case we decide to harvest one some day.

I used to eat a fair amount of Atlantic Sharpnose when I was in North Carolina. They were a lot smaller, maybe 20-25 lbs. I would kill/bleed immediately. Then right away I would cut the meat off. The fillets would still be twitching. Never tasted any off tastes with them.

As near as I can remember, they are in that same family too... There is a difference in gaffing a shark in the jaw and hauling her up the beach and sinking one into the gill. Made the call when I saw her bleeding and half her gills were full of sand to just sink into the gill rakers....

I completely understand coach, it just made me laugh when I heard that in the video. I definitely want to catch a soupie like that on my kayak some day and harvest it. I haven’t had shark since those sharp nose and I feel like trying it again sometime.

What’s a spot to land a Soupie! I know there’s a few other species out there lurking in that area:emoji_sunglasses:
