I haven't been out in my yak in a couple of weeks and it is now loaded and ready to go. I can't decide where to go fishing tomorrow morning. I'm kind of burnt out on to many dinky spotties from around Spanish Island. So I need some help please. Would you rather fish Zuniga jetty or North Island cement blocks or under the Coronado bridge or mission bay??? In a kayak or boat? Catching a legal Hali would be a bonus. Thanks for your input. Robo

I'd say working around the bait barge all the way to Shelter Island could produce, or around north island would be my pick for a legal halibut if I had a kayak.

How is parking compared to the parking at Shelter Island boat ramp?

You are parking on the street, but if you get there early its not a problem. Plus you are that much closer to the jetty.

I'll check it out one day.
Like how easy parking and loading/unloading is at SI dock. Can back up my truck right to the sidewalk ,unload kayak and be on the beach within 3mins. The paddling distance from Kellogs beach to SI dock beach is only just over half a mile. So not a crazy difference in terms of distance.

I would do a surf launch south of the Coronado dog park and start as far south on zuniga as I dared.. have heard there are roaming packs of soupfins down there to keep you busy between halibut..

Thanks to all I headed out this morning from the Sub base and headed over to the Zuniga Jetty. I drifted with the incoming tide just a little past the ammo pier. 16 bass 3 keeper Calico Sandy and the Spotty won the most abundant species. Then I headed over to the bait barge and only got 1 bass and no other bites. Lots of boat traffic so I stayed my distance. Off the water by 10. Not a bad 4 hour session. Many thanks to all for your input. Robo

You made the right call, Spanish Landing area seems like its been dead for a while to me, or they know my boat now and its only me. I think I might have to take the Hawaiian sling out this weekend to go prove there are actually fish down there! Aloha

Still sounds like a good time, any time on the water is awesome man. Hopefully I can get out there with you and some of the other SD fish peeps eventually. Probably going to hit up liberty Station Beach this week and paddle around.
