Not local but good intel nonetheless. Been hearing about the great calico bass fishing at the harbor walls in Long Beach for years and finally made it up there last night. Fished a all nighter from 8pm to 3am and landed at least 40 calicos ranging from 1/2 to 2lbs. Wind and chop could not stop us although crossing the main channel got a little sloppy for a little bit. No luck with any monsters but our buddy from up there who fishes there regularly landed a few over 5lbs on sculpin flies last night. Such a great night but I am getting too old for all nighters.

My hat's off to you, amigo! Not sure I could take a night like that any more.
BTW, did the bite start right away after sundown, or did you have to wait a while for them to get dark adjusted? I haven't done much night fishing, and always wondered...

Let’s go Steve. I am a weekend warrior so I usually only fish then.
Tomaso, seemed like they were active all night but we had a slow time between 11 to 1am. That could have been a result of us not knowing where the big ones were. Our buddy we went with had only fished there a few times and still got us on fish. There is so much water up there it is mind blowing.

We were on a 21’ Triumph. Three guys hucking huge flies at night was somewhat chaotic. We ended up having 2 guys fishing while the other guy manned the boat.

40 calico’s in one session is pretty darn good. I’ve heard great things about the LB wall for years. Clearly they’ve been true.

We fished for 8 hours. Thats like 5 bass per hour. We got to some spots where we were landing 5 fish each in 5 casts then nothing for little while. Didnt get back to bed until 8am. Luckily my wife and daughter had pity on me and let me sleep until 3pm. Would totally do it again but next time less beers.
