Our duck season has been way off of our regular pace this year in southeast Louisiana. Saving our season are Lesser Scaup (dosgris in Louisiana) that have showed up by the thousands. They have done a similar thing the last few years late season. They roost in the marsh prairie and go the Mississippi river to the grain complexes to eat what falls in the river in the morning. Back and forth every day and we are in line with the flight path. Game on!

Second part is catching some redfish in the same marsh in the evening time. Good days in Sportsman’s Paradise…

No specks near the camp. We have an abnormally high Mississippi River that is dumping fresh water in our area. The specks are gone. Redfish, bass and freshwater cats is what we are getting. In years past we would be loading up the ice chest with specks right now.

Oh we do shoot coots if we have the chance. In the picture are results of a herd of them that came towards our blind and three of us ground raked them. Delicious in a crock pot stewing for 7 hours low heat with carrots and potatoes over rice. Umm um!!
