Took a quick trip up the the Lower Owens to take advantage of the reduced flows and beautiful weather. Got up there early on Sunday and were inflating our raft somewhere around Five Bridges by 10am. The fishing was excellent the entire time with at least 20 fish being landed each day. Tungsten Jig Head Soft Hackles size 14-18 did the trick for us. Nice mix of wild Browns and Rainbows around the Five Bridges area with primarily Browns coming from our drift through the Lower Wild Trout section. The raft is an absolute GAMECHANGER around there as it allowed us to access the sections of the river that rarely see any pressure. All of our fish were full of piss and vinegar and we've never had so many fish almost jump in the boat as we did this trip. Also got to break in the new Mavic Mini drone with some cool shots of the scenery up there. Hard to beat!

Awesome shots! Whats the procedure for dropping in the raft and getting it back out? And are there any restrictions on where you can have it? Ive got a canoe and I would love to try something like that. I am sure id have to drag it some but it never gets used so I dont care if it gets a little beat up.

Either way, those drone shots are awesome. Amazing what people can do at home with some off the shelf equipment now.

Cool video. Looks like a totally great time.

Good question above about the raft and possible restrictions. Curious about that myself.

There’s no restriction on rafting anywhere around there as far as I can tell. Guys at the fly shop said it’s wide open as well. Most of the accesses are pretty rudimentary but if you’re willing to do a little leg work you should be able to put in just about anywhere. We would drop the raft in and stage the car and then ride a mountain bike back to the put in. The lower you go down the river the easier the access is but you start to encounter more stocker fish

Thats hardcore and you get some biking in! That was similar to what I was thinking. Dropping it off, driving down stream then finding a way back up to the boat. 2 cars would make it a lot easier!

Thanks for info and great report.

Anyone going up during thanksgiving? Supposed to snow pretty good in the bishop area during thanksgiving. Would be cool having the River mostly to yourself during that time! Temps will be in the low 20’s though! :)
