Major mackerel boil in mission bay today. We caught 50 mackies , barracuda, and a keeper Sculpin. Fun day.

that boil was insane!!!!! I probably saw you out there today. I caught the boil when it was on the back side of the lifeguard station.

Nah not yt, these were cuda schooling them. Saw them massed up hard on the bait right near the first bridge out of quivira. Quite a spectacle - went on for a while, rarely get to witness something like that up close and personal. Couple casts into the boil yielded some 20-23" snot sticks. Fun on light line!

More than once, I've had a tipped sabiki with a kroc or mbait at the bottom and caught small YT in the channel, either on my lure, or the sabiki, either way

It's funny, all the years of shore fishing I haven't done so.. From the kayak? Maybe a half dozen times.. Lol. I have caught the regular jacks from shore a couple times tho

Huge mackerel boil on Saturday under the Ingraham bridge as well. Rolled into it with my skiff about noon. Ran the entire span. Thousands.... every time we threw something into the boil we were bit.
Gotta think that many macks have bigger boys following!

They were boiling last night as well. All I had with me was my 20' pole, and that will be the last time I go out to the jetty without taking a rod and reel with me for backup. I still managed a fourty fish night, but I really wanted to cast some lures out and see what else was lurking in that boil.

You know you had a good session when you get home and find splattered fish blood on your face.

I threw a 1/2 Oz cast master into them for a while yesterday on an ultra light set up. Caught a few macks and a couple small Sandies that were chasing them but nothing big. They were just outside the entrance to the marina where the bait barge is yesterday about 9:30 am

Sux that the 10 calicoes you caught didn't make it in your fish report.

Life being a nuisance fish is tough, .

There's probably a good chance at yellows inside the bays since the general consensus I've gotten is that this is gonna be a great year for inshore stuff and that yellowtail are gonna come in closer.
