Wanted to get another thiccc guitar fish on but ran out of grunions as bait. originally wanted to get some smelt or macks so first went to dana landing boat launch ramp area and started tossing out waffle pieces. no action so I packed it in and headed to Shelter island and man there was so many people i could even find a spot to get my lines wet. So I noped outta there and headed to sunset cliff(been wanting to hit up ss after seeing coach pull in GIGANTIC smelt that I think is about the length from my freaking wrist to elbow). Tried the werf special and just fly lining some market shrimp. Got a salema, little wrasse, and one small smelt. Was chumming consistently but not a lot of action. but then again I went out during the middle of the day so maybe not the best time. Skunked last week at MB north jetty fishing for macks so making bait has been a little difficult. Will most likely try to make bait again at the jetty and report back

Yeah I would’ve tried to squeeze in at Shelter Island or go to the Ferry Landing or OB pier. In my opinion your best bet to get bait is at a pier. Yeah during the weekends in the summer, Shelter Island pier can be shoulder to shoulder. That’s why I fish strictly during the weekdays lol
