So, I was reading how some service member in attendance at DJT’s visit to the USS Wasp in Yokosuka wore these patches. Crew members of the nearby USS John McCain specifically not invited – presumably due to their uniform’s display of their ship’s namesake. Anyone else scratching their head about this? I don’t recall the military being so overtly political. Troubling IMO – no matter who the CINC is…

Maybe trying to have " Aircrews " be a little closer to the top on the appropriations list ? Does seem odd .

Would not have been in my Navy day. Then again neither would covering up a vessels name because somebody might get offended.
They shouldn't have covered the USS John McCain's name for a single minute.
The fact somebody asked that pisses me off.

My thoughts are there is a lot of photo editing going on lately. And the tools are getting better, and people are getting better skilled with those tools. Also, what you read/see/hear on the internet should be double, triple checked, and possibly disregarded completely. This response included.

It is just despicable that our men and women in uniform would display support for their President! How unpatriotic!

FOM Ever served in the military?

The oath of enlistment, "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

We swear to support and defend the constitution and obey the POTUS. Big distinction.

Those guys wearing the POTUS face is not proper. The flag, the emblem of your ship, air wing, special force, yada yada yada, is fine.

Allegiance is to the flag and the nation. Not to one man ever! My dad fought against that.

I'm going to say that FOM was being 100% sarcastic in that post.

I hear what your saying spideyjg. I have never served unfortunately. I think I'm going to wait and see what comes of this. Just like old_rookie say's there could be funny stuff going on. I just don't believe anything the media or our politicians say anymore. Our country is in a pretty sad state right now and it's changing fast.

Nope, high number in the lottery.

Our President was elected as President. He did not cheat or misuse the democratic process in any way. I'm sure that these guys broke some kind of uniform code, but since when is it wrong to express support for the Commander in Chief? I'm sick of this RESIST movement!

A few guys had some patches made based on a campaign slogan. They're gonna get reamed if anyone got pics of their faces. Not the first time something like this has happened.
Slow news day...a water cooler story at best. Separate from that stupidity with the tarp.

I love it when you fricking libbies jump when the MSM tells ya to jump

why now the sudden outrage over these patches?

where was the outrage back in 2017 ?

what is outrageous about the patch?

that it has a phrase similar to Make America Great Again ?
that is it has a likeness of Trump ?
does the red MAGA red make you scream also?

the military has been wearing different morale patches for years...

Actually, with all the constant negativity and outright HATE people (including our ridiculous excuses for Congressional members) are showing toward the President, why not let the military wear arm MAGA patches? They are MORALE patches. And if it helps their morale and it's what they wanted, I'm all for it.

What DOES pizz me off though is the crybaby BS regarding everything McCain. McCain passed and we lost a great man.. then Trump remarked toward McCain in extremely poor taste.. then McCain's family (daughter mostly) jumped on Trump in nearly the same manner (two wrongs don't make a right.. remember that? Be the bigger person.. remember that?).. then they jumped on each other via Twitter, and Miss McCain took to late night talk shows, and the pizzing contest continues today.

Had the McCains and their supporters simply shut their mouths, I'd totally be in the McCain camp - and I'm 99% there with all this. All I can do now is shake my head at Trump wishing he had shut his own mouth and never mentioned McCain. But did anyone else notice.. as soon as McCain announced he was terminal, he totally changed directions and immediately flipped his position on some of his political views.

He always hated Trump. Still, McCain was totally disrespected.. and there's NO WAY Trump should have ever disrespected a veteran.. ANY veteran. I think Trump sux azz for his behavior with the McCain mess and I'm happy to say that here.

That part was pretty obvious. McCain refused to respect Trump as President. That failure took away alot of respect people had for McCain.

Funny.. how easy it is to say and do things you never thought you would when your time is limited. What does it matter though.. you're dying anyway.. so what's running your mouth gonna do.. kill you?

McCain was a great war hero, from what I have read he would let others go ahead of him to be released from the POW camps.
But towards the end of his political career I didn't agree with some of his views. I respect him, but bottom line for me is that you can disagree with him and not feel chastise about doing so because he was a POW. Some people want to hit you with the shame factor for disagreeing with his views.
I think that he was a poor choice for the Republican presidential candidate, the Eisenhower era is over.

A deceased man should be judged for his deeds during his entire life, not during a small fraction of it giving him a pass for decades of misdeeds. Sorry, but McCain was a war-mongering neocon in total service to the IM complex and certainly not a good choice for a senator as well. The real damage to this country that he made as a senator and presidential candidate far outweighs the perceived benefits of his behavior as a POW. Another false idol must be revealed what he really was.

Well actually the ship is named for the Senators father. Regardless of anything you don't hide the ship because somebody might get their feelings hurt.

Much as I hate whataboutism, if Pres. Obama's people asked that the USS Ronald Reagan be hidden from Obama the right would have gone bug fugging bat ****e crazy and spontaneously combusted from rage.

    Trumps people asked.
