Got some footage and shots of south MB.. yikes. I know I wouldn't hit high tide any time soon... Lower is better... Personally I wouldn't at all, but if you do, post a report. Stopped at MB for one dink spottie in ten minutes effort... sunset was nice though, even saw a sand crab assassin shell, along with some SC holes in the wash...

Wonder if the surge was north or south , LaJolla south must not have kelp showing on the float . . Point Loma might be stripped pretty good as well . Right down to the anchors looking at the photos . Too bad it won't get put to use , the kelp flies will have a good time . I did not hear of any architectural damage but I don't watch local news anymore. WR

Wow, getting snag by weeds when soak-fishing was very annoying. I can't imagine if I get snagged by a floating wad's of those weed's!

William Ritchie , looked like half or more of the trees there had anchors attached. Going to be an interesting spring for our local inshore. Haven't taken a look at LJ or points North, pretty sure there will be heaps of paddies offshore this year too, maybe too many, time will tell. Wish the local gardeners could get access to the beach salad, but this is CA: when in doubt, over regulate everything..

velgonz .. days like these, you leave the LC at home...

B8DHOOK this nonsense was excessive even by nasty storm standards, like whoa... Lol

Always thought those were just molts of very large sand crabs.

There are a couple different species in the mole crab family, the one is highly cannibalistic, if my understanding is right

I take it these giant heaps of kelp are not normal? There was a storm about 4-6 weeks ago and there were thigh-high piles of it on SS. Seems like a similar scene now.

I have seen a lot of kelp on MB quite a few times. This much only a couple. I am talking a couple feet thick for miles...

There's a limit on the collection of kelp and seaweed with a sportfishing license, 10 lbs aggregate and no collection of eelgrass. Check the regs before you post. But it's probably too late.
