I thought of the hole in the top of the bag as well. I think I am just going to use a piece of garbage bag or tarp to create a makeshift lid for it. Dont worry about the scale, we will be using the same one for everyone. Should be fun.

hey guys, I'm just an outside observer since I sold my float tube last week. Here's my 2 cents.

Use the fish bag. It would be the most honest and fair way for everyone plus it's going to be cheaper than buying a digi scale and camera.

Looking at the picture of the other bag, can you make a small skelton shell (PVC) and put it in the bag but small enough so you can close the bag?

Someone can make one, try it out, and if it works make enough for everyone for the tourney. Of course the anglers will pay you back for the cost.

Good luck and can't wait to hear how it went.

I thought that was how it worked? Maybe not, but that was how I pictured it. I only glanced I guess.

No your right, I went back and looked this time. Cool little device, by far the best choice for your tourney.

We've held contest there before. We used home made live wells. If you're worried about fish abuse, and you should be, you might want to consider a jackpot(1 big fish) contest. Then only a couple fish get carried around all day. Plus if you designate a couple official weigh masters on each side, they can verify a fishes weight and then release it.

I made one out of a laundry basket. It had a lid. I made a lock on the front. Put foam from a old pfd around the top. Drilled 1/2" holes all over. It should work, I'm going to test it this weekend

They have those noodles at the 99 cent store btw

Come on, your going to chose Catching dozens of bass at Barrett over the alluring smell of the S.D. River? You have got to be crazy :)

Hey guys, just browsing through this thread with some intrest to possibly join in on one of these. So far i like the idea of having a weigh master or two to take your fish to and weigh and release as each is caught.
Another idea is this....why not just measure each fish length and record. The total length of your best fish combined (5 or 3) together for the winner. Actually termed a "paper tourney" in some circles. In reality the length is just as good as the overal weight.
If this was brought up already i apologize.

The live well cage should be fine. It seems confusing but is easy to make most people have the stuff to make one already. If not go to the 99 cent store and spend 5 bucks. who knows this tournament could be the 1st of many. I would like to do one at murray and upper otay.

    Check out mine

just noticed the thread. i unfortunately will not be able to make it on the 6th. I too will be attending in the barrett festivities. EZ, Bendo, hope to see you at the big B. I'd like to get in a future tournament down in the MCR ghetto classic. hope its a blazing success.

P.S. keep my backyard clean, and bigger fish are in deeper water.
    good luck
P.S.S.- props to transplant for the initiative.always wanted to see it happen.
